Porthouse Theatre to open at full capacity June 17 with 'Quilters' musical
Porthouse, which canceled its 2020 summer season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is returning with a full season of live professional theater, featuring the small musicals "Quilters," "BKLYN" and "Altar Boyz." Terri Kent, Porthouse Theatre's producing artistic director, said it won't be business as usual at the summer theater, an arm of Kent.

Porthouse theatre is a great way to experience a musical. The performers are generally (not always) Kent State students so tickets are cheaper than Playhouse, but the talent is always phenomenal. I love the outdoor theatre, as well as the picnic benches nearby. Every time I see a musical there, it is always a fun, relaxing night out!

Porthouse Theatre is a staple in the Northeast Ohio arts community, and indeed, our patrons return year after year. Porthouse Theatre grew out of a partnership between Kent State University and The Cleveland Orchestra, who formed the Kent/Blossom Arts festival programs in 1968 in an effort to develop Blossom Music Center into a total.
