1) Start Fraps. 2) Open up WoW Model Viewer and select a solid blue or green background (View > Background Color). The colors you want to use are circled. 3) Select the character you wish to use, then record an animation with Fraps. 4) Drag the clip into the Vegas timeline.

I haven't done any WoW machinima but I know a lot of people use wow model viewer. It lets you mess around with pretty much every model in the game. I think you can put a sort of green screen as the background too.

Bring your cursor over the number 360 and drag it to the left. The number should go down and your character should move across the screen to the left. Keep doing this until your character disappears off-screen. Now, you will see a white circle next to the Position effect.
