The best way to get to Erice is by the cable car in about 10 minutes. You will enjoy a stunning view: Trapani with its charming salt flats, the Egadi Islands and Erice from the above, before you set foot in this lovely medieval village. The round trip ticket is €9 and €4 for children aged 3-16 years. The cable car is closed from January 7 to March 22.

We took the cable car to the amazing clifftop village of Erice. This was a relaxing and spectacular way to visit. Parking in Trapani was just next to the cable station, cheap and guarded. The ride was memorable as the views of the triangular shape of Trapani, the salt works and Islands West of Sicily were all impressive. The 9.50€ were well.

Cable Car & Erice is a must if you are visiting eastern Sicily! You pick up the cable car at Trapani and take a 10 minute trip up the mountain to Erice. Parking is available. The views of Trapani and Egadi Islands are amazing. The ancient town is really interesting and do not forget to visit the most famous cake shop in Sicily.

Erice is basically triangular in shape, with steep lanes leading up and around from the Porta Trapani gateway, where you'll find the cable-car station (more below on transport). This is at one point of the triangle, with the main street, Vittorio Emanuele, leading straight uphill towards the town's principal square, Piazza Umberto I.
