Eli Ping (b. 1977 Chicago, Illinois) received his MFA at the University of Illinois and is currently based in Brooklyn, New York. In his practice, Ping works with canvas and resin, creating his own language as a tool to manipulate his work into their forms. His work is gestural and sensual and illustrates clearly that he is invested in how.

Similar work to that show is currently at Art Basel in Miami this week. Gallery view. Instead of resin, which you know is my favorite medium, this time his cast iron sculpture was the highlight. The exhibition was not only Eli Ping, but also Covey Gong. I also truly liked Gong's work. The sheer wall pieces were really stunning in person.

The Eli Ping exhibition, Motes and Monocarps, was among my recent favorites. I adore resin, and this was resin heaven. Born in 1977 in Chicago, Ping received his MFA at the University of Illinois.
