Stack eight sheets of phyllo dough, brushing with butter between each layer, to create a sturdy base. Sprinkle it with a mixture of chopped nuts and cinnamon. Top with two sheets of phyllo dough and follow with the nut mixture. Repeat this process a few more times, until the nut mixture is gone. Top with about eight more layers of phyllo.

Bake in the 325 degree F oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes, until the baklava is golden brown. Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle all of the cooled syrup over the baklava. Cool, then serve. Let the baklava cool completely at room temperature for 4-6 hours without being covered so the baked pastry can soak up all of the syrup and enjoy!

Clarified butter or ghee. Bake until golden. This takes between 50-60 minutes but will vary depending on the oven. Pour over the simple syrup. You want to do this right when the baklava comes out of the oven. The hot pan allows the syrup to really soak into the baklava. For best results, allow to cool completely before serving.

Using a very sharp knife, cut the baklava into around 20 squares or diamond shapes. Bake the baklava for about 1 hour or until the pastry is a deep golden brown. Remove the baklava from the oven. Immediately remove the cinnamon stick and the orange and lemon peels from the cold syrup and pour it evenly over the hot baklava.

While baking, make the sweet honey syrup. It is important to do it right away to allow the honey syrup to cool before adding it to the hot baklava.

Bake. Transfer the baking dish to the oven and bake for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the top layers of the baklava are golden brown and crispy. Drizzle with syrup. Transfer the baking dish to a wire cooling rack. Then immediately drizzle the cooled syrup evenly over the top of the hot baklava.

In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, water, corn syrup, lemon juice, and sea salt. 1¾ cups granulated sugar, 1 cup water, 2 Tablespoons corn syrup, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, ⅛ teaspoon sea salt. Stir the mixture to combine and dissolve the sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat, and bring the mixture to a boil.

1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup honey, 2 Tbsp lemon juice, and 3/4 cup water. Bring to a boil over med/high heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved, then reduce heat to med/low and boil an additional 4 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and let syrup cool while preparing baklava.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Make the Honey Syrup. Place the sugar and water in a saucepan and heat stove-top, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves. Add the honey, orange extract, and whole cloves (cloves are optional here); stir to mix. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and let simmer for about 25 minutes.
