Lee Krasner, (born October 27, 1908, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.—died June 19, 1984, New York City), American painter recognized for her unique contribution to Abstract Expressionism. Krasner was the sixth of seven children of Jewish emigrants from Odessa, Russia (now Ukraine).
