Mushrooms end up in tiny pieces and seem fine to me texturally. you can rehydrate in hot water or broth, bring water to a boil then pour over the mushrooms and let them set for about 15 minutes. once rehydrated you can use the liquid in a soup etc. the mushrooms can be chopped minced or pulverized and added to the dish also for more flavor.
