There are some first class (fresco-rossa - something like that) trains that are very nice from trenitalia. I took the trenitalia (fresco-rosso) train from Venice to Florence, splurged on first class, and enjoyed it.

You will have to enter your credit card info in the login page once you're on the train. You will be charged .01 euro (1 cent) for period of 24 hr usage.

Useless Wi-Fi, car was over 80F/30C, "first class" was laughable with cramped seats, a single (half) cup of the worst coffee in Italy (or the world) on a 3hr trip, and €20 more than a standard seat on Trenitalia..
